Fall is Here!

In this episode I talk about:
– Update on the show and other Kitchen Counter Media stuff. Expanding the content to be more like a blog. The podcast won’t go away, but it may not be the same content as what’s on the website.

– My food revelations in Hawaii (apple bananas and sugarloaf pineapple)

– Question from Victoria in North Carolina re: Pinterest:
Just about everyone I know pins recipes on Pinterest these days. I occasionally skim through them, try one out, and ask the husband if it’s a keeper. If we both agree that we like it then it gets repinned onto a board of successful recipes. Do you think this is an oddity? It doesn’t seem like anyone else on Pinterest is actually trying these recipes let alone keeping track of which ones worked out and deleting the ones that didn’t, as evidenced by so many recipe pins with dead links. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.

  • I love homemade cranberry sauce. I like the leftovers on waffles or English muffins. My recipe is similar to the recipe that Roger linked.

I combine 2 (12 ounce) packages fresh cranberries, zest from an orange, 3 cinnamon sticks, 2 cups orange juice, 2 cups packed brown sugar. Bring this to a boil and lower heat. After the cranberries pop, cook until the mixture has thickened. Cool, cover, and refrigerate.

I receive a lot of compliments whenever I make a pumpkin roll. It is the kind of thing people think is difficult, but believe me when I say if I can do it successfully anyone can. It looks impressive and it smells and tastes wonderful. Just be sure to follow the instructions about rolling the cake up when it is warm.

    • Thanks Joni! Sorry I forgot to reply to your comment earlier!
I am going to mention the pumpkin roll on the next episode 🙂
