Quick Fix: Whiskey BBQ Sauce

Play episode

Today is part two of my five part daily series on grilling, leading up to the 4th of July! This time I’m offering up a simple, tangy whiskey BBQ sauce for your grilling adventures!

Whiskey BBQ Sauce Recipe

1 cup whiskey (or bourbon, or dark rum)
1 cup tomato ketchup
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 medium onion, pureed or very finely minced
1 garlic clove, pureed or very finely minced
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon hot sauce
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
dash of liquid smoke

Combine all ingredients in a non-reactive sauce pan and bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, for 20-25 minutes or until sauce is thickened. Store in jars in fridge for up to two months.
