Resources

There are many great home cooking resources out there. As I discover those worth sharing I’ll put them here!

Kitchen Tools/Appliances

WÜSTHOF Knives– Based in Solingen, Germany WÜSTHOF has been making fine knives since 1814. This seventh-generation family business produces a wide range of cutlery for many different budgets and uses. My favorite is their “Classic” series. These knives are readily available throughout the states at stores like Macy’s or Williams-Sonoma, or online at Amazon.

Le Creuset Cookware – When you start to get serious about stocking your kitchen with top-quality cookware, you have to take a look at Le Creuset. Their enameled cast-iron Dutch (French) ovens are heirloom quality and you can cook almost anything in them. They clean up in a snap too.

Vitamix Blenders – When I tell people I have a Vitamix, their first reaction is usually “oh, you paid that much for a blender?” But honestly, it’s the only kitchen appliance I’ve ever used that actually lives up to the hype (besides maybe the classic KitchenAid mixer). You can blend practically anything in a Vitamix. They are great for smoothies, making sauces, homemade peanut butter, frozen desserts, and on and on. The blades in this blender spin so fast, you can actually heat soup in it (about six minutes in the Vitamix on high speed and your soup will be steaming hot).

Spices

I recommend getting your spices from a local shop if one is available. If you can’t find what you need locally, or you just want to make sure you get the highest-quality spices, I suggest visiting The Spice House online. Their selection is great and product quality is superior. They can be a little pricey, but completely worth it.
