Vegan Cooking with Monique of Brown Vegan
I’ve had requests to talk vegan cooking from a few listeners, but frankly, I’m not the right person to lead that discussion. I’m not vegan. To be clear I have nothing against those who are, so I figured it would be both difficult to talk about and disingenuous at the same time. So to solve that, I asked Monique Koch of brownvegan.com to come on the show and share some wisdom on the vegan lifestyle. In this conversation you’ll hear Monique’s vegan origin story, how to ease the transition to a plant-based lifestyle, how to find the best vegan ingredients, and so much more.
This isn’t a discussion on the pros and cons of veganism. I’m not trying to convince you to be a vegan or avoid it. The purpose here is to help you succeed in the kitchen no matter what kind of diet and lifestyle you choose.
My favorite thing about this episode is Monique herself. Not only is she a superb resource on veganism, but she approaches it with an open and down-to-earth attitude. She was very easy to talk to and I never once felt as though she was pulling the “preachy” card on me that I feel coming from so many dedicated vegans towards us meat/dairy eaters. Finally, even if you aren’t a vegan, I think you’ll get a lot out of this episode in the form of cooking inspiration and ideas.
