Here’s a great fruity BBQ sauce that goes great with grilled chicken, pork, and beef.
- 2 Quarts Blueberries Fresh or Frozen
- 1 Cup Celery finely chopped
- 1 Cup Onion finely chopped
- 1 Cup Red bell pepper finely chopped
- 1 Carrot minced
- 1 Clove garlic minced
- 1 Cup Apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 Cup Honey
- 2 TBSP Molasses
- 3 TBSP Ketchup
- 1 TBSP paprika
- 2 tsp Salt Kosher or sea salt
- 1 tsp Black pepper freshly ground
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp mustard powder
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cayenne
- 1/4 tsp Ground cloves
- Puree blueberries in a blender
- Combine pureed blueberries and vegetables, vinegar, honey, molasses, ketchup, and spices in a large heavy, nonreactive saucepan. Simmer over medium heat until the sauce is thick and the vegetables are soft.
- Return sauce to blender and puree until completely smooth. Sauce should be thick but easy to pour. Check the seasoning and correct to taste. Store in clean jars in the fridge. Sauce will last for several weeks.
